Water hit the fill level quicker than the control expects.
Model compatibility: Viking reuses codes across series and model years, so 4-5 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
The pressure sensor reaches the fill level too fast, an abnormal pressure-sensor change.
This one runs opposite to the common fill complaint. Water did arrive; 4-5 says the pressure sensor watched the tub hit its fill level far too fast.
Source coverage
Just one of the manuals available as text, the VDB451/FDB451, gives 4-5 a row of its own. The five lines that follow are therefore the full extent of what is known.
Checklist in the manual
Level the dishwasher in both directions, front to back and left to right.
Check that the household supply pressure meets the specification.
A faulty inlet valve.
A faulty pressure sensor.
A faulty main control.
Doing the first two
Place a spirit level inside the empty tub and read it along both axes. Pressure is trickier, because the manual leaves out the specification and the acceptable band stays unknown. Someone with a gauge, such as a plumber or the technician, can measure it.
Electrical items
Entries three to five are electrical. The valve there is the same part examined under code 4-4. Leave all three to a technician.
Water-level neighbours
2-5: level changing abnormally during a drain; it has a levelling check too
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
