Code 2-1 flags a pressure sensor signal that reads low, as if it were disconnected.
Model compatibility: Viking reuses codes across series and model years, so 2-1 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
Viking lists 2-1 as a pressure sensor disconnect, with the sensor reading out of its normal range on the low side.
What 2-1 stands for
Expect Pots/Pans to blink 2 times, then Normal Wash once. The manual title is pressure sensor disconnect error.
Why the sensor matters
Where a pressure sensor is fitted, the control depends on it for the water level during fills and drains. Should its output sink beneath the expected band, the control stops trusting it and posts 2-1. Put simply, the complaint is about the electrical signal rather than about how much water is actually in the tub.
Three entries, nothing more
Be sure the sensor is correctly connected.
The sensor could be faulty.
The wiring harness of the sensor could be faulty.
These come from the manuals for VDB451/FDB451 and VDB325/VDB450. Viking publishes no ohm value, reset procedure or owner step, and neither the FDB301 group nor the VDB200 manual includes the code.
Where else this sensor shows up
Level codes 2-3 (low), 2-4 (high), 2-5 (abnormal change) and 4-5 (fill too fast) all rely on the same part.
Your part in it
The sensor is mounted within the dishwasher and wired to a board that carries line voltage, which puts the connection check in a technician’s hands. What helps is a timeline: did 2-1 begin once the machine had been moved, repaired or opened up?
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
