F9 reports abnormal pressure in circulation. Low can mean no water, high a defective circulation pump.
Model compatibility: Viking reuses codes across series and model years, so F9 / L1+L4 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
F9 is a circulation fault: the pressure sensor reads excessively low or high pressure, the program leaves the heating stage and continues, shown only in the service menu.
Viking calls F9 the circulation fault on DFUD dishwashers (L1 with L4 on LED models). The pressure sensor is the one reporting, and the value it reports is either much too small or much too large given the water that ought to be circulating.
Examples from the manual
Very low pressure can mean the tub has no water.
Very high pressure can mean a defective circulation pump.
They illustrate, and do not exhaust, the possible causes; the code by itself cannot tell you which one is present.
Effect on the program
The program leaves the heating stage and carries on with what remains. Viking states that, like certain other faults, this one is indicated solely in the service menu; at home the first hint could be a cycle that appears to skip heat.

You can look at the filter: a clogged one appears on the list and also underlies the separate F8 fault. Confirming that the tap is open also fits, given that a tub without water is the manual’s example of low pressure. Anything involving the circulation pump or sump requires power off and a technician.

Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
