Too much water in the tub; after 60 seconds the cycle is interrupted.
Model compatibility: Viking reuses codes across series and model years, so F2 / L2 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
Too much water in the machine, sensed by the pressure sensor or the float; if not drained within 60 seconds the program is interrupted and the drain pump runs.
Water you can actually see is a possible outcome of this fault, which is uncommon for Viking dishwasher codes. F2 on the DFUD series (the second LED, L2, on certain displays) means either the pressure sensor or the float has decided that there is excess water in the tub.
Sixty seconds
A minute is what the control grants for the extra water to be evacuated. Once 60 seconds pass, the program is interrupted and the drain pump starts. F2 is therefore no mild warning of a high level; it records that the machine failed to dispose of the surplus on time unaided.
Owner instruction
Where the manual speaks to users, its answer for excess water is to call service. Clearing a fault indication from the display is done by turning the main switch off and then on. Should water be standing or leaking, shut off the water supply before doing so.
Technician checklist
Drain pump: it has to clear the water behind the alarm.
Blocked hoses: with the route obstructed, water cannot get out.
Flow sensor: keeps count of incoming water.
Inlet valve: one that lets water through when closed raises the level further.
Leakage: the manual gives it a line of its own.
Wiring: a bad connection may produce a false signal.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
