Two flashing lights mean the base pan sensor found water.
Model compatibility: Viking reuses codes across series and model years, so BOTH LEDS FLASH / PAN MOISTURE may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
Both LED1 and LED2 flash continuously because the base pan moisture sensor detects water, from an overflow, a leak or a defective sensor.
LED1 and LED2 flashing in unison is the dishwasher’s way of reporting water in a place that should be dry. The manuals label the condition Pan Moisture.
Why it happens
Listed cause
Meaning
Water in the base pan
Overflow or a leak has left water in the pan
Defective moisture sensor
The sensor claims water that is not there
How the sensor reacts
Beneath the tub is a base pan, and a moisture sensor is fitted inside it. Viking says that once water reaches the sensor, filling stops, the drain pump runs and the two lights flash. That means a dishwasher that abruptly quits and pumps out could simply be responding to the sensor.
Getting at it is technician work, since it is in the pan beneath the machine. The VDB200 manual has the technician look for water in the pan and measure the sensor, where 175k ohms is the reading to expect.
Checks that are safe
Cut power to the dishwasher before anything else, and keep towels off the electrical connections.
Inspect the floor and surrounding cabinet for drips or dampness; a puddle you can see points to the first cause.
Recall which stage was running when the lights began, filling, washing or draining, as it helps locate the source.
Do not test it by running again
When water really is leaking out, another cycle can put more onto the floor or the cabinet base. Leave the water supply off until the origin is found.
