NO PROBE cancels probe cooking when the meat probe circuit is open or the probe is removed.
Model compatibility: Viking reuses codes across series and model years, so NO PROBE may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
NO PROBE shows when the meat probe is open or removed during a cook-by-probe function, and probe cooking is cancelled.
A message without an F number
This one is shown as flashing icons: NO PROBE, COOK, and either UPPER OVEN or LOWER OVEN. It applies to Viking ranges and wall ovens with the EOC4 control, and it appears during probe cooking when the meat probe is open or has been pulled out.
The message comes from Viking’s fail-code sheet for ranges and ovens with this control. Unlike the F-codes on that sheet, it is shown only through flashing icons and carries no number.
Priority B
The fail-code sheet lists it as Priority B (non-critical). The control cancels only the probe operation, and the oven stays usable otherwise.
To carry on cooking
Put the meat probe in.
Enter the timed or delay function again.
Make sure the probe is properly plugged in before you program. If you do not need probe cooking, an ordinary timed bake works without it.
When it comes back with the probe in place
The sheet’s remedy goes no further than having the probe present and names no failed part. A technician can test the probe and its socket if the message persists.
Related codes
F04 covers a shorted probe input instead of an open one.
F21 is another Priority B entry; it cancels timed functions only.
