Error code F01
Appliance Oven
Quick answer

F01 is a door latch fault: the lock is not where the running cycle needs it to be.

Model compatibility: Viking reuses codes across series and model years, so F01 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

Plain language

What this code means

The door lock is not in the unlocked position during cooking or the locked position during a clean; Viking rates it critical (priority A).

What F01 reports

A self-cleaning oven needs its door lock open for baking and closed for cleaning. F01 appears on an EOC4-controlled Viking when the lock is sitting in the wrong one. In the manufacturer’s fail-code sheet it is priority A, which makes it a critical error.

Where you see it

  • Wall ovens with a TOD2 or TOD3 clock: the display shows F01.
  • Ranges: no code appears. The Clean light flashes one time and the Cycle light stays off.

The control’s own response

  1. In a cleaning cycle, the cycle is cancelled and the control attempts to lock the door. If the lock has not engaged after a set number of minutes, the error is shown. The sheet leaves that number blank.
  2. In a cooking cycle, the control runs the latch motor through its cycle until the lock reaches the unlocked position.

What the sheet says to do

Turn the cycle off, power the oven down, and fix the door lock problem. The last step is repair work, not a reset. Do not force the door of an oven that is supposed to be locked.

Related door codes

  • F07 reports the door as open during CLEAN, with the latch or door sensor as the suspects.
  • F9 and FF come from lock switch sensing and report the door as unlocked and locked, respectively.
